I just want Emily Blunt to have nice things. WHY CAN’T WE HAVE NICE THINGS?

You know? I think I would really like it if it was one piece.

Agreed! The view from the front is lovely. The view from the back reminds me of the outlandishly tacky/expensive dresses I was exposed to when shopping for prom.

“…but I also basically just don’t think that is the flattering.” Might be time to get some sleep, Jessica. ;)

But seriously, I hate this dress. The brassy greenish-gold sort of matches the icky blonde she’s growing out, and the style is just plain ugly. I hate weird cutouts. They’re not timeless, dammit!

Yeah, I don’t think that particular tone of gold is good with her skin and hair, although that might be something hat’s only obvious when you stand further away from it, ya know?
The waist cut-outs are an abomination, but I want to rest my drink on that ass! Spectacular!

I actually really like everything except the hair. But I really hate the hair.

I also feel its the hair that makes this whole look worst. If she didnt have that ugly bun on her head I think the dress would have looked better from the front. The back would have still remained granny panties as someone said on here.

Exactly. I love the color, love the fabric, and love the shape. It just needs those missing pieces to not be missing and then it would be classy and lovely.

From the front view, it’s not tough to imagine this dress as a one-piece, minus the cutouts. And even as a one-piece, I have to think it’s badly cut. It unfortunately emphasizes her stomach, and she is a tiny tiny person. If the dress makes Ms. Blunt look less than absolutely teeny, than there’s something wrong with the tailoring.

It’s funny, but thinking about how the dress might look as a one-piece gives me the notion that it’s just plain badly cut. I would think that it’s hard NOT to flatter her figure, but this dress is proving me wrong. I actually think she might get away with the cutouts if the whole deal was tailored in a more flattering way.

It’s like the backless equivalent of granny panties, to me.

I dislike these kinds of dresses, but I think it looks decent on her (or maybe she’s just so pretty that I’m overlooking its true hideousness). The minimal styling helps as well. And I know this has been said before, but she has an amazing backside (and figure in general), which of course helps with any dress.

Totally a great example of how just SMILING makes me like the dress…they both look happy and fun :)

I think a different color, maybe more deep copper side. Also, either go fully two pieces or just one piece. The front tie together looks awkward.

I’d love to see it on her in that copper color you mention — and with less severe hair.

Maybe make it much more sparkly in a brighter, less brownish shade of gold?
Also, loose, tussled hair like Clair Danes instead of the tight bun would be dishy, too.

I don’t see what’s the problem with this, I LOVE IT as is! FAB!!! And, John = YUM!

Forgot to say that Emily looks GORGEOUS! Was distracted by the Kraz!

I like it! I think it’s flattering on her, actually. Her back looks awesome. This is one of the only cut-out dresses I liked from that night.

    • Stefanie

Same! I just wish it was a different color!!

On a side note: I just love these two. They are so adorable together.

I’ll cosign both of the above. She looks amazing (except for the hair — I hate buns!) and if I had her body, I’d wear this everyday — just in a different color.

Thank God other people like this, I thought I was on a one way street to Crazy Town – cause I kind of love it. I wish the hair was a less severe updo, but I still really like the dress.

Agree! I think she looks completely amazing in a retro 60′s kind of way. Shape perfect, fit perfect. The earrings are also perfect. Let’s be fair now girlfriends, you were also picking on Sofia Vergera for NOT being interesting.

I really love this from the front, not quite so much from the back. However, if I had a body that good I’d wear shit like this every day.

Mustard is flattering only to hot dogs.

I don’t usually care for this sort of thing either, but I think it’s working on her. Having such a beautiful, toned back helps! It makes her look more finished than she might otherwise.

Love the color, the fit is flawless, and for me, that pretty little bit of a frothy train keeps it from being too sporty.

If I were styling Blunt, I might’ve said, “Eh, we can do better,” but I do think this is pretty on her.

Um…I unabashedly LOVE this! The color suits her tan skin and I love the purple earrings. I also even like the bun.

I would love this so much more if it wasn’t lace. I actually like the cut and style, but not the fabric.

  17. Stephanie

pretty sure it’s NOT THAT BAD. She looks pretty great. The colour may be slightly off, but it fits and her body looks great

Does anyone else wonder how uncomfortable it must have been to sit on those big beads all night? I worry her butt was covered with small round bruises by the end of the night.

    • Anita

So it’s not just me? I wonder that every time I see a dress with dimensional stuff (beads, feathers, crystals, etc.) on the back and/or butt.

I quite like the fabric… maybe with a plunging V? Although I do grow weary of The Sternum. Or as a backless halter? I don’t hate the hair, and her face looks gorgeous – as does her date. What a lucky lady!

oh, but she has nice things. you can’t have anything nicer than krasinski :D

Her tan looks trashy. Some people should never get tanned.

I thought it was a tan colored belt when I first saw the picture. That probably would have been a better choice.

I thought the person in the first photo was JLO. Just for a sec.

Here’s the thing — any form of midriff-bearing is a recipe for disaster, even if you are a size -2 or whatever they are in Hollywood these days. Look at her standing there and it’s fine. But at some point she will have to sit down. Or swivel. Or lean in a particular direction. There’s no way you can wear something like this or like the keyhole outfit that Wiig had on and NOT eventually have an issue with a flap of skin hanging over, or a crease, or worse. Regardless of how rock-hard your abs are. Why would you risk it?

  25. Kimberley

I’m mostly okay with it- it fits her like a glove, her updo is perfect, and I’m a secret sucker for lace. Even the colour is fine, though I love ArtElectric’s idea of making it a deep copper. However, I just can’t get on board with those tacky exposed zippers in the back! TWO of them! If ever a dress needed an invisible zipper (yep, that’s a thing), this is that dress.

I’m going with the consensus opinion that the colour is the problem. It’s not doing her any favors. I’m not a fan of cut outs but I don’t hate this. The shape of the dress is great and it fits her very well. Also — at the risk of being completely tasteless — her ass looks amazing in this dress.

Yeah, add me to the “the color is ruining it” list. I mean, it isn’t horrid, but I just don’t think it’s the most flattering color on her. The fit in the bodice could be better too, but it isn’t horrid. I think it’s just a couple of almost-there’s away from being really gorgeous.

I’m generally not a fan of cut outs in formal wear, but overall I think if you’re going to do it, this is the way to go.

I’m getting tired of the “maybe you see my 1950s underwear” look. It’s done. Move on to something more tasteful.

I’d say give it to Kerry Washington.

Hideous frock and the color is horrific.

The weird thing is it FITS her beautifully, and yet, still does nothing for her.

For some reason, I’m in the “love it” camp. She’s just so fit and looks happy. It’s not the most gorgeous dress I’ve ever seen, but she looks fantastic in it.

The material reminds me of the bedspread in my grandma’s house that she had to take off of the bed and put away before we were allowed to go to sleep.

I wish I had come to an opinion before I realized who this was because now I can’t decide if she is really pulling this off or if I’m being influenced by how just so darn likeable I find her. Either way, I think she looks pretty good here.

I like the front, very much actually. If the back came together like the front did, I’d say it was a total win.

  36. Aria

I thought the color looked better on tv, and she certainly has the body for it!

I guess it’s neither here nor there. In any case: Enough with Blonde Blunt, give us Brunette Blunt!

If only it was a one-piece, I’d wholeheartedly approve, doorknob hair and all.

I don’t hate it, but I wish it were a brighter colour. I am jealous though cuz he is the only guy on my ‘list’! Lucky she’s likeable.
