Or, as we’re calling it at GFY HQ, the “Piper Perabo? SERIOUSLY?” category.

Why in the hell is the girl from Coyote Ugly nominated?

  2. Jill

Ooo, this could all sorts of ways. I’m secretly hoping for Katey Sagal to to show up stunning.

  3. Willow

I have no faith in Elisabeth Moss showing up in something amazing and pretty, its going to be the same dowdy washed out Fleh.

I think Kyra Sedgwick will be best but it will probably be a dress you either love or hat.

  4. Jessica

I am obsessed with the faces Coyote Ugly makes. Seriously. She ALWAYS makes that face. WHY?

  5. Willow

I think Cayote Ugly’s neck has a mind of its own and doesn’t like it’s picture being taken so it always tries to make a quick getaway and surprises her.

I’m sorry to say, but I’ve actually seen Covert Affairs and Piper Perabo is terrible on it. I can’t believe she’s nominated for a real award. Shameful. I hope she shows up the Globes looking as awful as her acting.

I love Juliana, though, and I hope she goes a little outside the box and tries something new. She looks fab in black, but I’d love to see her in a bold color.

Kyra was a close call for me, too, because I also love her.

  7. Anika

I want Julianna to win it ALL!

(How is Piper Perabo in this category?)

What is up with Piper’s face???

  9. Megan

Is it just me, or does Piper look like Brittany Murphy here? (In the face. Brittany never would have worn that dress.)

  10. Mary

I like that mod black and white dress that Piper is wearing in the third pic. But for the love of all that’s holy, WHAT is up w/ her hair and makeup? She looks like a vampire flapper. Or something. It’s so horrible that I can’t even come up w/ a decent analogy.

You know how much I love you; I’ve been reading since you were mere children, but there’s one thing about the site revamp that is about to push me over the edge. I loathe the way the header stretches every time I change pages. I’m constantly adjusting the screen, and it distracts from the enjoyment of your witty comments. (See how I temper criticism with praise?)

  12. Jessica

Amy, it shouldn’t do that to you at all — have you closed the ad? That should fix it in this instance.

If taken as a whole Look, rather than just evaluating the gowns themselves, every one of these gals has worn pretty frocks with the WORST hairstyles possible, rather negating the positive.

I console my frustration with screaming ads that take up far more than their share of bandwidth by remembering that, without sponsers, we wouldn’t be able to be here at all. I simply resolve never to watch or purchase whatever is screaming at me, not that something called Skins on MTV would have much to tempt me anyway.

  14. Joni Woodhead

@jess … I second Amy, when you go to a page, your content loads first including the photo so i start reading then the ad loads and scooches everything down so i have to like adjust and start all over. closing the ad will scoot everything back up, but it just happens again on the next page so why bother? I know wait a ten second pause before i start reading to allow the silly ad to slide in. Its not all the time, its just the format that this “Skins” ad is in i think

  15. Joni Woodhead

eeek typo, that should have said “I now wait ten seconds”

  16. amy

Closing the ad doesn’t help because the little X doesn’t show up until the ad is already bumping everything down. And then it happens on the next page. Sponsors, I will buy everything you are selling in triplicate if you’ll stop doing this to me.

  17. Rachel

The flashing “skins” ads are killing me. I love your site but I cannot do this until it’s gone. It’s so distracting and horrible.

  18. Jessica

Amy, if you close it, it won’t ever bump everything down again, solving the problem going forward — like on the next page. If that doesn’t work, please email us and let us know and we can work with you more closely without sidetracking the comments.

Vandaflan I agree the styling for a lot of the ladies seems to stop a the neck. Kyra’s hair in her last photo was thrilling much more flattering than the Shirley temple loops and too long droop. Equally no matter how great the dress on Julia Marguilis the hair in a couple of those outfits looked untouched even by shampoo let alone a Hairdresser. Come ON girls go the whole nine yards this time.

  20. Liane

I think Coyote Ugly is hoping people will think she’s Sharon Stone if they catch her out of the corner of their eye

  21. Hangnail

@ Liane, Sweet Coyote Ugly, I’m with you. I thought it was Sharon Stone! It would be awesome to see those two at the same table swilling champagne and Sharon giving her research tips on the remake of “Basic Instinct 3some”

  22. Persimmon

I’m reeeeeeeaallly hoping Elisabeth Moss continues her recent trend of looking good — not great, because she hasn’t figured out what colors to wear, but good — because I absolutely adore her (I also hope she wins the award; she so deserves it for Peggy). However, I’m afraid the stress of the first major awards show of the season might cause her to lapse into bad habits.

Julianna Margulies seems like an easy win, although I’m sure Kyra will look fine, too.

  23. buttercup

In the first photo of Piper, she looks like that model that used to be in Victoria’s Secret (and I’m aging myself here…), Frederique? Or something? If you asked me on the street, that’s who I would’ve said it was. And Piper would have rolled in her grave. Except, she isn’t dead yet. So you’d go to a random cemetery in LA and you’d see Piper Perabo rolling around, and you’d be all like, “Frederique? What are you doing rolling around in a cemetery?” And she’d be all like, “Dammit! I’m not Frederique! But someone must’ve said something to make me roll around in my grave! And I’ll get them if it’s the last thing I do!”

  24. Sharona

Aw, I don’t think Piper Perabo is that bad on Covert Affairs. Although it does make me sad that the truly AMAZING Anne Dudek has just that thankless little role as her sister.

I’m pulling for Juliana Margulies here, though. She is amazing on her show and if she can get that whole look thing down she’ll look fantastic.

  25. Laura

Kyra Sedgwick often opts for L’Wren Scott for big events. My prediction is that she will wear the gorgeous look 33 from L’Wren Scott Spring 2011. The color is great for her, and I love all the detailing.

For Elisabeth Moss, I’m hoping to see her in look 17 from Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2011. The color is perfect for her, and the shoulder detail of the dress is great for her.

  26. Sue

How could she possibly have been nominated – that show is pure fluff. The best show on USA is White Collar – Bomer should have gotten nom.
