Fugs and Fabs: The CBS Upfronts

We need to discuss how bizarre the notion is of Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar as sitcom-costars. And yet, The Crazy Ones exists, which should probably be re-punctuated The Crazy One(s). Instead of promoting most of the actual shows, CBS did behind-the-scenes reels, and it’s probably a bad sign that the theme of The Crazy One‘s is, “All the stuff off camera and the ruined takes have been SO FUN AND FUNNY.” I anticipate many tales from the set about SMG, who strikes me as a total efficient professional, wanting to Buffy Punch the hell out of Mork. Will Arnett’s The Millers looks so terrible that one can only imagine how desperate he was to take any job at all that ensured Up All Night died a decisive death. The two comedies that look okay, I still don’t know that I’d go out of my way to watch every week: We Are Men might not be awful and Allison Janney and Anna Faris were superb casting for Mom. I bet that one sticks.

As for dramas, there’s just some limited-run Hostages thing — I do love the words “limited run” when it comes to those sorts of stories — and then Josh Holloway’s Intelligence, a.k.a. CSI: Persons of Interest, a.k.a. My Brain Has WiFi. It’s basically an excuse to do a bunch of 3D graphics of crime scenes and evidence walls while Sawyer broods. There are worse reasons to do a TV show. Considering Persons of Interest still seems to exist despite Jim Caviezel being a tree with a mouth, it’ll probably do relatively well.

Fug the Show candidates: Zero. This is a recurring theme. I may have to fugcap Sleepy Hollow just to feel alive.

Galecki looks like he’s packing some serious heat. Or is that just his hand?

    Look to your laurels, Hamm!

Whew! I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed that!

Hard to miss- he looks like he’s shoplifting a cucumber.

Bringing the custody of one’s eyes back to Galecki’s head region, may I just comment on how much this photo is giving off strong vibes of Mandy Patinkin? Perhaps there is an alt universe where Homeland is recast with folks from The Big Bang Theory?

I’m seeing more Zach Galifianakis there.

Which, I love him, but… Galecki probably shouldn’t wear a beard.

That was the first thing I noticed as well!

That is the worst sock crotch stuffing ever…Either that or he needs to put down the pump.

He is big. Google image it, if you’re curious. (He did a bway play with full frontal)

I’m wondering if this means Meghan Ory won’t be on OUAT anymore……I love her dress though!

I still can’t picture Josh Holloway not looking sweaty and dirty like he did for so long on Lost.

Weirdly, Josh Holloway is both more AND less attractive when he’s cleaned up. I can’t explain that.

      Allison Janney is a goddess.

I was wondering the same thing about Ory.

Good point about Hannigan–she’s like an anti-show killer. What would happen if she was on a show with one of the well-known show killers?

My take on Intelligence is that it’s basically what happens when someone says “Hey, what if Chuck was not a comedy and included way, way fewer adoring, soft focus shots of Subway sandwiches?”

What an odd mish-mash of different kinds of looks.

The men could all take a lesson from Neil Patrick Harris.

Gellar and – well, just Gellar… looks great.

I have the biggest girl-crush on Allison Janney. And it’s so sweet how she’s leaning around Faris so as not to dwarf her!

How weird is it to see Pauley Perette without all of the tattoos? And also dressed as cutsie-quirky Zoey D.

Given the title of her new show, it seems appropriate that Meghan Ory’s dress is reminiscent of a circuit board, no?

Once more, with grammar: Given the theme of Meghan Ory’s new show, it seems appropriate that her dress is reminiscent of a circuit board, no?

I want Alyson Hannigan’s shoes on my feet right now. NPH is great, he always looks so dapper. Lucy Liu has not aged at all.

Mmmmm, Sawyer, Jonny Lee Miller and NPH all in one post. Happy Victoria Day Weekend, Canada.

Buffy and Willow in the same place! wonder how long it’s been . . . .

I also loved Alyson’s shoes and SMG looks great. Love them!

Neil Patrick Harris’s suit is tweed adjacent. Not quite tweed, not quite a woolen weave. Maybe it’s the lights? Not a criticism, just an observation.

Oh come on. I thought SMG’s show looked really funny. (and there seems to be a lot of fug going on in that show- did you see that crazy bun ;)

Why does Will Arnett want “Up All Night” to die? I liked that show. Sad to see it go.

I liked it too, but Christina Applegate decided to leave and it wouldn’t have been the same without her! I guess it’s better to just end it!

Alyson Hannigan looks terrible! That dress just does nothing for her. And Alison Janney’s trousers are bad. And I thought Marg Helgenberger was Kylie at first.

Sawyer makes my heart skip a beat when I see him- cleaned up or dirtied down, he still exudes sex appeal.

Yeah, I’m that irritating person. :-)

SMG looks so much better as a brunette. That light, light blonde just doesn’t play as well with her skin color, never mind the roots.

At the risk of sounding like a total perv, I’ve noticed Galecki’s “serious heat” before. On one episode of Big Bang Theory he was wearing red jeans that were so revealing it caused me to pause my TV and take a pic on my cell phone. Yeah, it was that noticeable and notable.

Disjointed thoughts: Seeing SMG makes me miss Ioan Griffidudthdth. I love Allison Janney but I don’t love what is going on on her head. And Sawyer is hot…I love the dimples. I think that is all.

The cut on that yellow thing is unflattering but what’s worse is that it seems to be made out of chenille. Chenille! Like grandma’s bedspread.

OMG! OMG! OMG! Buffy & Willow on the same slideshow and the same network! LOVE! I don’t want to live in a world where Sarah Michelle Gellar is not on my TV screen on a regular basis, so I’m happy! Plus, she looks GREAT!

actually Hannigan and Co did not get to end Buffy on its own term. SMG didn’t sign the contract. Then she leaked it to the media and everyone found out they no longer had a job over the television. No class.

I just have to drop in to say that Person of Interest (singular!) is actually really great (Amy Acker! Sarah Shahi! Michael Emerson! Artificial intelligence!!!!) and Caviezel’s stony non-acting ends up working for his character, whose emotions are buried so deep that you can only tell they’re there based on when he does and does not a) kill people or b) bring the other main character donuts.
