Man, if you didn’t identify Julianne Hough I never would have
I really enjoy Selena’s dress – she looks great.
Selena’s is the best of the group for sure. It has a nice shape, although the outlining of her boobs is more like theatre lights to me than a sleep mask. Certainly brings attention to the girls…..
Selena looks so sleek and polished (even with the chestal sleep mask) that I can’t help thinking of her ex-dude and his fugly mess of clothing.
Good lord, has everybody in the British fashion industry been infected with the Stella virus? These are all dull and poorly executed.
Too many have become seizure-inducing lately. Whatever happened to a print that actually please the eye?
Selena’s boob outline is unfortunate — the dress would be so much nicer without it. I think she makes interesting mistakes and rarely looks like a fool.
It’s like… either the clothes are arguing with themselves, or they’re arguing with the wearer. In some cases, both.
Why couldn’t all these extremely attractive people find clothing that doesn’t want to have a fight of some kind? I prefer to get along with my clothes!
I love the idea of a LBD with crazy patterned sleeves but it isn’t really working in this dress.
I am absolutely fascinated by Pixie Geldof’s shoes–I think it’s because I just love the oxblood color.
I like oxblood, too, a LOT, but it really isn’t a spring sort of thing.
I think they’re plastic tortoise shell with burgundy piping. They are literally the only good item of clothing in that whole eye-searing panoply.
I am heartbroken over the decline of the British fashion industry. These are uniformly garish, cheap looking, and unflattering.
The boob cups on Pixie Geldof’s dress, along with the straps, look like bug eyes and antennae … and now that’s all I can see when I look at her outfit.
Also, I have no idea who Hannah Simone is, but she looks like the lost Kardashian sister.
I think she is on the New Girl.
Is it possible that the same “designer” created both Julianne Hough’s and Hannah Simone’s dresses? Or, maybe both garments are the result of a project runway challenge wherein the “designers” had to create a dress from a box filled with scraps of fabric . . .
I think the first three outfits are all Peter
Pilotto. And fugs. Selena definitely looks the best of this poor lot.
Eep. Were the 1st THREE dresses Pilotto? Seizure inducing.
Preach it. If there’s a photo of those first three women together, I hope I never run across it.
And I’m pretty sure if you look up the phrase “generic Hollywood blonde”, you’ll find a photo of the nondescript Ms. Hough.
Julianne Hough WTF? Who is her stylist and WHY?
In general, these Rorschach print frocks make me see fug rampant on a field of yuck.
Christa B. Allen does not look good* and yet she was not the worst dressed person at the party. I share Heather’s confusion about how that’s possible.
*Hair bad. Make-up bad. Necklace wrong for the outfit. Shoes bad.
Yikes, this was a “fashion” event?? It seems more like a joke to see who can dress the worst…
I think the chest region of Selena’s dress looks like one of those Viewfinder toys, and yet I can’t bring myself to outright hate it.
That’s interesting. I saw the pearls making an outline of a two piece swimsuit. Maybe she wishes she were at the beach, and this dress just reminded her of it.
I think I would have liked Julianne’s dress if the white thing wasn’t serving her head on a platter.
I liked Hannah Simone’s dress…I kind of like it when chicks with hot bodies don’t show a lot of t&a and chose a body skimming silloutte instead with a bold pattern.
I don’t like the outfit, but I really like Isabelle’s shoes! Selena’s dress looks like it has very cheap fake pearls on it. Like something you would glue on from a craft store.
While I love Hannah Simone (and yes, to the question above, she is on New Girl) and think she is super gorgeous, I can’t love her dress. I hate the curved, orange stripes going along the sides. The swoop shape makes her look like a pear, and she is not wide at all. I agree that it’s great when celebs don’t feel the need to aggressively shove their t&a at us, but they also don’t need make themselves look frumpy when they are not.
Julianne Hough’s dress is about 6 inches away from an Irish Dance competition solo dress.
I LOVE the crazy patterns, but I also recently bought a Prabal Gurung for Target dress with a pattern my mom described as neon cat vomit. So it goes.
neon cat vomit… your mom must be a riot!
Cassandra, I’d like to take your mother out for a drink!
Except for Selena’s outfit that is a whole lot of NO! Why Julianne Hough didn’t go further in Fug Madness is beyond comprehension!
I don’t know… I kind of think people on this site just like to “Here, here” on GFY ladies’ comments. People don’t say have so much an interesting POV as just seconding what’s already been said. I think Pixie Geldof looks adorable. Her hair is cute, her make-up has that slept-in look that makes her a bit tired looking, but she’s young enough that it still looks super cute, and if her dress were fitted a bit more properly, with a slightly more flattering hem (Maybe it was photographed from a bad downward angle?), it would be awesome: sexy w/o a ton of obscene cleavage, striking a balance which seems so elusive in this day and age. The reason I hate Hannah’s dress as well as Julianna’s (well, there’s so much to hate about JH’s dress) is that–IS ANYONE ELSE OVER THE WHOLE MIRROR PRINT THING??? It’s been almost as done to death as the sheer thing. As much as I almost always hate the sheer stuff, too–especially when it just hangs around at the bottom of a shorter opaque skirt–at least it’s got a little bit of a classic element to it. 2012 wasn’t the first time sheer fabric showed up in the world. As for the mirror thing, why are celebrities still wearing an exhausted trend that by now is in the clearance section of ASOS.com?
The beauty of the comment section is that we can either say how much we agree with Heather & Jessica or how much we disagree! If you don’t think Fug Nation has anything interesting to say in their comments, you don’t have to read them!
Say something original. Say something insightful. Not just being the 10th person to agree “Selena looked the best” or “THIS was a fashion event?”. And, FYI, I usually DO NOT read comments for this reason alone. They make me stabby.
We can’t all be as witty as Heather and Jessica and quite often we do agree with their point of view. And if you’re feeling that stabby, feel free to go right back to not reading the comments. It would also be fine not to tell us that you’re not reading them.
I agree with you about Pixie Geldolf. I thnk with some tweaking, like a different hem or a less snug cut, it’d be great. And she’s got a gorgeous, cool look.
I.also often find myself at odds with the Fug girls regarding things I like here and am sometimes surprised when the majority agree with them. But I think it’s because I grew up in Providence in the 80s & 90′s, when all the RISD kids and punks were wearing crazy art pieces as clothing regardless of what they did for their figures, and I’ve always thought that was cool and more aesthetically interesting than a pretty, figure flattering dress. These days, if something doesn’t flatter one’s figure, most people tend not to like it.
Did anyone else glance at the Pixie Geldof picture and think, just for a split second, “why is Robert Pattinson in a dress?”
I didn’t at first, but now I can’t unsee it!
I don’t know anything about this Peter Pilotto character, but since he shows up twice in this slideshow (that awful first dress is his too iirc), I am very seriously concerned about his mental stability.
Peter Pilotto is responsible for this look on Kerry Washington:
Obviously a risky choice and not something to everyone’s taste, but I, personally, thought it was amazing–striking, original, and the fit sets a blueprint for good tailoring–and I think it was reviewed as a “best dressed” on Joan Rivers’ Fashion Police.
I had a optical migraine this morning and the first three dresses made it feel like it was coming back. Pixie’s dress was close, but don’t like the boob cups. I like Selena’s except for the lining around the chest. And Christa B Allen’s was just bad – HATE that heart necklace.
It is actually a nice and useful piece of info. I am happy that you shared this useful info with us.

I don’t understand… both Julianne Hough and Hannah Simone are amaaazing looking women with awesome bodies, and yet here they are, looking.. well… less than awesome. The outfits (I don’t even know if I can call Julianne’s outfit a dress…) make them look bigger than they are and it’s ridiculous.
I actually quite like Selena Gomez’s dress. Except for the sleeping mask her boobs are wearing.
