Fug The Show: Ringer, Episode 3

well-played

Well, this one wasn’t nearly as fun as the first two — all that hair was going to be a tough act to follow — but it DID finish big, which I appreciate. Join me on SMG’s sartorial journey through the third episode of Ringer, with a few stops at Man Candy Junction on the way. Because it’s Friday, and I care.

Yay! I’m not the only one who liked the Origami Dress! (My husband’s reaction was “WHAT is THAT?”.)

From now on I want to refer to this show as simply Man Candy Junction. Yes.

Please do this every week. They’re using one of the Buffy costume designers, so you know the fug will continue.

Oh dear god, so much love for Nestor Carbonell.

While I enjoy the Fug Recaps on Ringer (That Star-Trek Black&Gold Waitress Outfit with that Terrible Hair Extension was something) You have to start Fugging the new Charlie’s Angels… Some of the girls clothes & hairstyles are just terrible! You got to see it!!

I am un-ironically enjoying this show. And Ioan Gruffud. And the clothes. And these posts about the clothes. Never stop.

I’ve gotten sucked into watching Revenge more for the cloths and the real estate porn than the plot. Maybe we should have a weekly “clothes of marginal TV shows” post.

(Oh, I’m sorry, guys! I thought you kept calling the handsome fellow “loan”, as if he had loaned her some money and only deserved to be referred to as a verb. It’s Ioan, like Ian. Ooopsie!)

Except he’s Welsh so it’s not pronounced like Ian.

Re: Heavy Metal Slide #7 – that thing literally made noise when she got up and walked away. Good thing she wasn’t after stealth.

Okay so the origami dress was interesting, but not sexy, so I’m not sure why the “husband” found it so appealing. Suspension of disbelief only takes you so far. (I am enjoying the show, though, for some reason!)

I too was reading Ioan as Loan and getting really confused. I will have to add this to the list of names I’ve only read and never heard spoken and therefore have no idea how to pronounce. Like Eowyn and Hermione. (Yes I am basically clueless about anything Harry Potter.)

      Kellyellyoxenfree –

Ioan – YO-an (and his last name is pronounced Griffith).

      Eowyn – AY-oh-win.

Hermione – Her-MY-oh-nee (except it’s pronounced quickly, so the “oh” usually sounds more like “uh”).

Although, honestly, the idea of “Loan” Gruffudd is rather appealing and amusing to me.

Oh, please do this every week! It adds so much to my enjoyment of the show, which I already secretly enjoy very much. Gruffydding…exactly.

I don’t even watch this show but I love reading these recaps and looking at the screen shots. Too funny! That outfit totally did look like something Barbara Walters would wear.

They really need to add a slide show of the teenage Kohls/streetwalker stylings of Secret Circle so we can all devote our lives entirely to following the CW’s prime time programming. We can just watch SMG and Summer and the girl from Life Unexpected and all pretend it’s really the old-school WB at it’s 2002. And maybe through in some Katie Holmes and Pacey for good measure…

this show is a secret pleasure and I also liked the origami dress!

I’m not watching the show, but there’s definitely an ’80s vibe to the clothes. The wardrobe on Revenge is positively low-key compared to this hot mess.

I love these posts. So much. However, I am kind of shocked you didn’t post a shot of the horrible slit that was involved in the skirt poor twin wore all episode.

How TF has Nestor not aged a day since Suddenly Susan?

Do I win a prize for knowing how to pronounce both “Ioan” AND “Gruffudd”?

Been watchin’ that boy since his Hornblower days–and if you think he looks good here, you have GOT to see him in full-on Napoleonic Era naval gear. And since it’s all ocean-y and everything, he gets wet. A LOT! :D

“[W]hen you are married to a rich financier and your twin is on the lam from the law, it’s best to dress like the Tin Man’s mother so that you are immediately noticeable. Although actually, anyone who sees her will in fact be blinded by their own reflection, so maybe she’s a total genius.”

    L.M.A.O!!!

Don’t know Jamie from AMC, but his teeth look way too fake.

How is the CW not using “OMG SMG” in the advertising for this show?

  23. pinkcheese

@Kellyellyoxenfree – It’s pronounced kind of like “Yowan” and his last name would be anglicized to Griffith. I think it’s probably easiest to just call him “Hotness” and leave it at that. :-D

I NEED YOU TO STOP WITH THIS RINGER-FEST EVEN THOUGH IT’S SMG BECAUSE I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE SECRET CIRCLE THANKS

I love the Ringer recaps– please keep them coming. Have you already said that rich twin looks like a modern-day, young Blanche Devereaux? During that scene in the bar, I think I actually started humming “Thank You for Being a Friend.”

I’m also in favor of a weekly review of this show.
    It has so much potential.
Alas, A) It stars Sarah Michelle Boring Gellar and
    B) It is on The CW which has the MOST OBNOXIOUS COMMERCIALS IN THE HISTORY OF COMMERCIALS.
My God, how many times can a person listen to Demi Levato sing that inane Love Song before they pierce their own ear drums?
And the Bing commercials, whose volume is turned up to 8000 decibels.
This episode had the dumbest ending ever.
Nothing new and nothing that inspires me to tune in next week.
Unless there will be a Fug Girls Recap.

The last dress reminds me of the dress of thorns the girl in Revenge wears in the ads.

I can’t get this show where I am so am loving these updates as they provide both cheesy-rific plot and multiple fugs. Keep up the good work!

I know this is a fashion blog but you seriously need to get some screen caps of the interior design on this show too. Rich Twin’s apartment is just filled with giant blown up pictures of her. And as a hardcore Buffyfile I am almost 100% sure that one of them is the cover of a movieline from back when SMG was promoting Scooby Doo
