Fug the Show: Hart of Dixie recap

Can you resist an episode where poor Lemon Breeland is forced to act as a “Grog Wench” during yet another one of BlueBell’s highly choreographed and costumed events — this time, something called Pioneer Days, where everyone lives off the grid and is assigned specific roles (like, you know, “blacksmith”) and which culminates in a Medieval Times Except With Pioneers-y meal called “First Feast” featuring speeches from Zoe and Wade in costume as the town’s founding couple? BECAUSE I CAN NOT. Again: I want to go to there.

    Love me some HOD. Observations:
    - Totally correct that Scott Porter has a serious funny bone. It’s making “George” more likable and taking him off the pedestal where he was up so high he was getting a nosebleed.
    - First episode where I truly thought Wade was a jerk. He’s always had redeeming qualities (he takes care of his dad), but announcing to an entire restaurant that your girlfriend is the “mayor of Pound Town,” uh, no. But, dang, yes, he’s got some pretty abs.
    - Lavon and Lemon – Come on! Lemon was meant to be the first lady of Blue Bell! Let’s get it together people.
    - Amazing that even on the tiniest of people, stripes are not necessarily a good look. Sorry, Zoe/Rachel. You’re still awesome, though.

See, I would have went with the final screen cap where Wade’s towel was almost falling off. But…maybe that’s just me…

I just moved to the South. Why aren’t kooky shenanigans happening to me? Where is my HNW? At the very least I want an always pastry filled kitchen!

Obligatory comment about how charming I find this show. I LOVE that Annabeth is now more of a series regular. Also, I need to adopt a feral raccoon and name him Donuts…

Donuts is now my favourite character. And I see him as an homage to Pancakes, Summer’s bunny on the OC.

I only started watching this show after reading several Fug the Shows and now I can’t live without it. Although, I don’t feel like deep down Lemon has changed. Yes, she gets kicked down a lot, but she always brings it on herself.

I can’t believe you didn’t mention Lavon’s red/maroon/rust-colored pants in that first scene in his kitchen. I suppose you were distracted by the pastries.

Did Zoe even practice medicine this week?

The less medicine Zoe practices the better. It was not working for her or for the show.

I agree with that. I think they are moving away from her doing any kind of doctoring at all on the show, which is smart — the Patient of the Week set-up just wasn’t gelling, I didn’t think.

The dress in #12 and Lemon’s blouse with that cute skirt are both made of the upholstery on the chairs in the coffee shop in #6. What is that place, the Cloying Cafe’?

Zoe and HNW have some seriously adorbs chemistry. Le sigh.

I just want to say I LOVE this show. And your recaps make me love it even more!

I feel my comment is markedly less witty than everyone elses, but just felt the need to share my love.

I also love what they are doing with George–town helper with subsequent shenanigans is perfect for him.

I only started watching (thanks to these recaps) halfway through last season when Lemon was already turning it around so I never went through the hate period that viewers from the beginning did. I love her and I love her and AB.

Thank you guys for pointing out Lavon’s pastry counter. I always look out for it now. I think someone here thought it might double as the crafts table and that’s how I like to think of it.

I do love this show, and they have done a great job with making me like George and Lemon better than I did before. And love AB – we need to get her a storyline outside of Lemon and the catering business. She really does wear some cute dresses.

And even if Lemon didn’t want to tell Lavon she was in love with him, she could’ve just said she was jealous– that sounds more logical and less immature than her wanting to pay Ruby back for high school antics.
