I simultaneously think this is fantastic and want to use her to wrap birthday presents:
I mean, it’s just so festive!
I imagine this is what people used as a picnic blanket in the 70′s?
There is no way I could pull that off, but on her it looks SO RAD.
*sigh* I wish I looked like that.
I also want that print in napkins, curtains and throw pillows. Pretty!!
I bet it’s beautiful when it moves. I mean the dress. She is too though.
She consistently rubs me the wrong way and I still love this dress. If there was any hope in hell that I could pull it off I would want it for my very own.
I wouldn’t use Padma Lakshmi for wrapping someone’s birthday present. That would look funny. Unlike that dress, it looks fine to me.
I LOVE IT!!! I WANT IT!!! Now, I feel like celebrating something…
The fit makes the dress … it’s perfect and it’s the reason she can carry off the print (although the incredible figure helps too!)
Sigh. Even her toes are stunning.
This dress makes me happy happy happy.
I want it and a strawberry daquiri, STAT. I mean, PLEASE.
I think it’s beautiful. Is it a madras print?
Very hot now, I think.
I think it’s beautiful as a dress, OR gift wrap or matching curtains, place mats, napkins, dust ruffle, and throw pillows. Seriously. The print is as fabulous as her figure.
Honestly, I think this is one of the prettiest dresses I’ve seen on this site. It helps that she has a terrific figure for it. LOVING!
I’m not even sure how this could possibly be fugged, when it’s so clearly fab all over!
Grand slam home run! She looks great. The color and the design features work together and there isn’t an excess of either. It’s perfect for her skin tone.
My bestie has got fringey curtains that look EXACTLY like that. I’ve often wondered how they’d translate to apparel- and now I know. Unfortunately, I am not PL, and would look absurd in it.
Wonderful dress… just wish it was a different (solid) colour.
Dress is fine..
HAIR IS AMAZING.
If that pattern were on another dress in a different style, it would probably look awful. But *this* dress looks so floaty and pretty and fits so well!
The drape excuses the pattern; it’s fabulous!
I want the dress (well, only if I can have her body as well) AND I want wrapping paper in that same pattern.
This is called getting away with it, because you are just that gorgeous. On many others, fug, but FAB on her!
She looks gorgeous. She’s lost the pregnancy weight, her hair and skin look fabulous, plus she has character now! The dress is just a lagniappe.
Beautiful fit, shape and fall. It is a touch bright, but hey, she looks bright and happy and she has a flower behind her ear.
I bet it’s sari fabric — that’s what it looks like in the closeup — and it is BEYOND FANTASTIC, beautiful design and the colour(s) suit her like anything. I’m sorry — I don’t think there’s a “fug” option here.
Dang. She looks terrific in this perfectly fitted and festive dress. Check the smile: She knows. When you look this good, you can’t help but to radiate a little. Brava.
Anybody know who the designer is? I desperately, madly, deeply want this dress. LOVE!
@wtfnyc: Vintage Bob Mackie, apparently, according to Google.
The thing is, Padma could show up in ACTUAL gift wrap and I’d still love her. So I’m biased, but I do think this looks just smashing on her.
Man. I love this so much that when I saw it again today, I wanted to vote for it again!
This is really pretty and she looks lovely. Bonus points for brushing her hair.
One of the reasons I watch Top Chef is the see what kind of crazy outfit Padma is wearing, and some of them are really out there. But she always rocks it. As the saying goes, she could make a potato sack look like a million bucks. Is that how the saying goes?
Fabulous dress and look. The pattern could easily overwhelm, but in a gown so simple and so exquisitely cut and fitted, it works beautifully.
That should be DREADFUL, but she is — inexplicably — pulling it off like a badass. With her face, skin, and figure, she can get away with clothes normal people can’t, and this is a prime example.
