Fug or Fab: Miranda Cosgrove

fug-or-fab

This is totally one of those things where, if she were not a cute and very youthful Disney star, I would be giving her a VERY hard time for this. Like, can you imagine if….Jessica Chastain, for example, popped up somewhere in this? Our heads would collectively explode. It would make a terrible mess:

And yes, it looks like a piranha took a bite out of her midsection and she has two wee fins stuck to her belt — there is probably an argument to be made that this dress is basically a SyFy movie about some marauding sea creature hybrid come to life. AND YET:

AND YET:

Be kind, she’s young….but now is the time to teach them….
If we are too lenient with our fashion discipline they will keep doing this well into their 40′s.

The illusion netting is cause for immediate disqualification, but without it that cut would be indecent on pretty much anyone but especially such a cute young lady. So who is this dress designed for? Design fail.

Get rid of the waist flaps (in different fabric? Seriously?) and it’s 100% improved. Then, strappy sandals and a better fit in the bodice, et voila. She can even keep her cut-out.

Whenever I see her, all I can think is, “Wow, she has a really big head for her body.”

That was my first reaction as well. And somehow that awful dress is making the proportions even worse.

I will now prove that I have an 8 year old: MC is Nickelodeon not Disney. But the outfit is so very very Disney. The top is totally Princess Jasmine’s minion in the ice show version of such.

Thanks! Didn’t want to have to point out the correct network, but glad you did! I never cared much for ICarly, but it’s better than VicTORIous, or whatever Victoria Justice’s show is. I find the Disney shows better than the Nick ones, for some reason. And yes, I have a 10 year old and a 12 year old.

And hooves in place of feet.

No to the netting and the flaps. Otherwise, it’s a cute dress on a pretty, young lady. Miranda is a particular favorite of my daughter, so I have a soft spot.

In addition to the other huge problems with the netting and that flaps and the midriff cut-out, I don’t think the top fits her all that well. It seems sloppy, like the knew the gawd awful net would keep it from falling down, so they didn’t bother to make it fit correctly.

I saw a pic of her from the side and it actually looked cute. The next was from the front and I wondered how long before it would show up here. It’s awful regardless of how old she is.

No. Just No. We should not condone this behavior, even if she is young.

Horrible dress. BTW, she was a Nickelodeon star, not Disney (on TV anyway).

She’s 20, to me that is not all that youthful. She’s 3,5 years older than Hailee Steinfeld, who dresses so much better. Anyway, that is just a horrible, horrible dress.

Nope. Not giving her a break. It’s TERRIBLE.

This is wrong in every possible way. It’s RIDICULOUS.

I’m very upset that I voted for “cute” before realizing there was illusion netting involved. I actually tried to find a way to switch my vote. I take my responsbilities as a part of Fug Nation very seriously.

There is not a redeeming thing about this. Illusion netting: No. Cut outs: Generally no. Blue napkins in her belt? No. Ill-fitting top? Gold thingy with no purpose? Random-material belt? Hideous hoof shoes? Awful proportions? NO NO NO NO NO. I think her head looks bigger by comparison because her shoulders are so narrow (my mom has this problem). Which makes this atrocity one big honkin pile of NO.

I love the word “honkin’” LOL!!
Honkin pile of NO makes me incredibly happy!!

without the cut out, the illusion netting and hiked up higher she’d look boring but fine.

This is horrendous. I am worried about you Jessica, and wonder if you perhaps have low blood sugar or need a nap.

It took me a while to realise it was illusion netting, and not that her head and arms were attached like a barbie’s.
