In which I am really jealous of you lucky Brits who are getting the new season of Downton Abbey so very soon.

It’s 144 DAYS before we get Season 4 in this country! The ONLY saving grace is that Top Chef New Orleans starts on Oct 2!
I think they both look lovely.
They both look nice. Perhaps not very exciting, but you can’t be exciting all the time, right? The flats on Ms. Carmichael are fine. Again, not exciting, but a girl cannot wear heels all the time (at least I can’t) and they’re quite quality sore-feet shoes. They don’t detract, and they let her interesting dress and fab lipstick standout. I think it’s a good look.
Oh, maybe that’s a shirt and skirt, not a dress? Regardless, my point is the same.
Love Laura’s little outfit, flats and all.
I think Laura’s outfit is so cute and I would wear it in a hot minute. I even love the flats.
Laura looks good. Nothing’s wrong with flats on her feet. She would look out of place wearing pumps on the street in the middle of the day.
I’m OK with flats ( as long as they’re interesting/pretty). Having had a pretty severe injury and a knee that decides to shift in its socket now and again….heels are reserved for very rare occasions when I have the hubby’s arm at my beck and call….
So I’ve learned to appreciate a pretty flat ( and the magic of inserts).
The outfits are fine, but all I can focus on are Laura’s knees…they seem to be at such odds with each other! How does she stand like that?
She has got that left leg and ankle turned in a little bit, but, sadly, some of us really are that knock-kneed. It does make one’s knees more susceptible to stress injuries (Hello, my-lovely-ACL-that-some-kind-person-donated) but I suck at sports anyway. On a day-to-day basis it’s not that big a deal.
I went back to look, and… yikes! What a very uncomfortable illusion of dislocation. And by “uncomfortable,” I’m referring to myself: her knees are perfectly operational, but I’m uncomfortable looking at them because they *appear* as though their positioning is painful.
I never got why people think Edith is the “ugly” one.
I think she’s actually more the “plain” one than the ugly one. Her dresses (costumes) always remind me of lace tablecloths, like all the other girls got new clothes, and someone said, “Oh dear! We forgot to order anything for Lady Edith for this season! No matter. Here’s this lace tablecloth with one end stained–we can cut it up for a dress for her.” And she never seems to wear strong colors, unlike Lady Mary. She’s always in washed out blues and neutrals. But given that her role has gotten spicier, and I hope will get spicier still, perhaps that will change in Season 4!
That is some seriously fine lipstick!
I WANT Laura’s blouse. Desperately. Any idea who made it? I can add to my collection of black and white tops..
Neither fug nor fab, just fine. Both fine.
Love those flats on Carmichael! I’d wear those everywhere.
While Elizabeth’s outfit is not my favorite thing- her face looks fantastic! Like Blair Underwood- she must be drinking from some fountain of youth.
I am against the flats. They are too casual and bringing down the look.
Let a girl wear flats! C’mon.
I just stopped by to say “hello” to the handsome man in the suit on slide 3
Isn’t it great to have A.D.D. sometimes???
We see all the pretty details that other people miss while they are looking at the main focal point of the picture!
Bless whomever finally gave Laura lipstick. Such an improvement.
I actually think the flats look great. She looks cool and chic and is wearing something a normal person could pull off.
Yes to the flats! So tired of heels with EVERYTHING>
Pumps for Laura!
(Which was the first draft of Votes for Women!)
I love Laura’s outfit! It’s something I’d wear! She looks pretty and comfortable! And her hair and makeup are great! FAB!
I love Laura’s top. Both she and Elizabeth look great.
I 100% thought that was Katie Holmes.
YES–she always does that head dip that Katie Holmes does. So odd.
She’s 18 years older than Katie, can you believe it? She looks great.
