Fug or Fab: Kristen Stewart

fug-or-fab

This might be my favorite outfit she’s worn in weeks:

I love stripes, I love a blazer, and while I might have (okay, definitely would have) worn other shoes, those seem VERY her without actually being her formerly omnipresent Converse.  She can pull off Slouchy Cool so much more easily than Naked McRomper. I feel like this is something that might have been in Lucky back when Lucky was still interesting and substantive, and there is no greater compliment. Sigh.

That being said, is it possible I'm giving her a pass just because her most recent look is so much worse?

I am biased because I think she’s an awful actress and I hate that people think she’s just amazing, but come ON, those shoes are just the worst. And what’s with the bunching around her stomach? Did she decide the skirt wasn’t short enough so she hiked it up in the car? Because I can totally see her doing that.

Did you see her in Adventureland or The Runaways? I think she’s a good actress trapped in a series of shitty movies. They’re making her a fortune, so it’s a pretty pleasant trap but still…

    I like the shoes.

I also thought she was great in “Panic Room” and in her very small role in “Into the Wild.”

I agree; I think she was quite good in The Runaways (although Dakota Fanning got more to do, which was sort of a bummer for me. I WANT ALL THE JOAN JETT).

Honestly, I would have voted “decent,” but that skirt is not decent.

We know you’re young, you are free, you are young, etc., but past the age of 3 or 4, it shouldn’t be quite THAT short.

Just the humble opinion of me, my pearls, my corset, my high button shoes………..

I would feel much more charitable towards this if it was worn in September and not December. Oh celebs and not having to worry about the weather. . .

I think the only reason this looks passable is her good makeup, washed hair and the absence of that disgusted look she always has on her face.

Yup. She looks clean, groomed and comfy, so this is a winner. The clunky shoes aren’t my favourites, but I’m old enough to remember the bliss of schlumping about in Docs.

Is this for some event, or just a candid? She looks great if it’s a candid, B+ if it’s for a talk show or similar.

I would’ve liked the whole thing more if she’d worn tights with it. It was December in a freezing NYC after all, plus I feel like they’d have worked better with the boots and dress combo.

I’m beginning to think the FUG girls have a serious crush on her. There are very few things I’ve seen her in that I’ve liked. This is not one of them, nor are a dozen or so things you’ve given her a “pass” on. And yet, I will always admit when I like her in something. I just don’t think even though she has “improved” that her clothes actually look nice. (Her face is nice here though. Good make-up.)

I think she’s pulling off the outfit. The shoes are horrible, without question. And I do wish she’d stop wearing her hair all swooshed to one side like that. It’s really starting to annoy me.

Thank God someone mentioned the hair! I am so over this look. She’s got great hair, why cant she do something good with it?

      • Megan M
        0

Yes!! She does it almost all the time now, with the swoosh over to one side! It’s not a good look. All I can think when I see someone wearing that is why they’re trying so hard to bring the 80s back. Busy Phillips has that style in all the most recent Cougar Town commercials. It’s just so, so awful. It’s making me stabby.

Thank you! It’s not like it’s shaved or buzzed on one side and that’s the only style choice she has each day (like a friend of mine in the ’80′s). Why oh why would she choose to wear her har like this every time she goes out???

Look at her HAIR. Is that all hers? It’s amazing!

I’m pretty sure it did all grow out of her head. Lucky girl! It’s gorgeous when it’s clean.

She shouldn’t take that for granted. I have hair loss, and one thing I’ve learned over the years of constantly investigating “What can I do about it?” is that a great big fat contributor to hair loss is not washing your scalp enough.

Helen – really?! Interesting. I wonder if that information has trickled down to the “no-poo” contingent.

Yep, the natural oils contain a small amount of dihydrotestosterone. Not a problem for most people, or we’d all be bald, but it isn’t a good idea to let it build up.

She’s been wearing extensions off-and-on ever since she filmed Snow White. You can see where they’ve woven in a lot of the time in HQ photos because her hair is always such a mess. I definitely think she’s got some in here for volume, but probably not length.

I have to applaud the stylist, then. This is a really, really good job!

i loved her in Adventureland, and even in Snow White and the Huntsman..she’s a decent actress and it’s quite sad that everyone’s judging her through the Twilight series..also, i love the dress, she will always look better in more casual outfits..and that bunching of fabrics around the hips is something that typically happens while sitting on the car..judging by the pic, where you can still see the wheels behind her, she obviously just got off the car and didnt have time yet to yank it..i would say she was probably waiting until there were no more photogs to get a bit of privacy and yank down the dress..nothing worng with that, esp. since the skirt is still at a decent length

I’m also a sucker for stripes. I was recently complimented on how well I rock a stripe.

I legitimately love the dress. I will never not like a nautical stripe. She could stand to adjust the skirt so that it isn’t bunched around the waist, which would probably help with issue of where the hemline hits as well. Even if you’re a 22 year old with good legs, I don’t want to see that much of them.

Yes there’s something weird going on with the bottom half of her dress- looks like an apron and isn’t she cold?! Girl needs tights and ankle boots!

It’s okay. On the Stewart scale, this is a win.

I like that it’s an outfit you don’t have to be a movie star to wear. Almost anyone could wear this – albeit, yes, with different shoes. I think you’d have to be just about exactly her age, and maybe exactly her, for those shoes. On Stewart, though, I opine that they work.

I think she is a pretty good actress (never seen any Twilight movies) judging from what I’ve seen. I like the dress, love the jacket, dislike the shoes, but think she can pull them off. Her hair and make up look great and she looks pretty happy, so this a win.

I like it. Generally, I love KStew’s casual wardrobe and hate her formal one. I also hate the shoes but the dress/blazer combo is cute as hell.

I’ve never even seen her speak for what it’s worth, but from what I can tell she definitely has her own look that’s for sure, and she is gorgeous.

I remember her from a pre-Twilight Lifetime movie called “Speak” and she was actually really really great in it!

Add my “This is her look, so rock on Joan Jett” two cents.

With all those stripes and the black blazer, she looks like Sherry from the blog One House Love. Only Sherry would have a ponytail and be wearing pants. I really wish Kristen would copy that part of Sherry’s uniform, too, so I wouldn’t be holding my breath worried that I might suddenly see WAAAY too much KStew. Hate the shoes with this, incidentally.

    Oh, HER again? Bleah.

If she can’t act happy to be in front of her public, she’s no actress.

She wore this outfit when she appeared on The Daily Show. She ditched the Doc Martens for heels right before she walked out to greet Jon Stewart. Love the whole outfit plus her hair and makeup look fabulous.

I think she wore high heels during the actual show. These shoes were only for getting there, as it were.

The shoes do not rock. I don’t care what anyone else says.
