Fug AND Fab: Lea Michele

fug-or-fab

Lea Michele’s Letterman outing was like The Tale of Two Lea Micheles. This is the young, fresh, cute Lea Michele:

Tis a far, far better shoe than she generally wears, tis a far, far more relaxed look than she has ever known.

Especially in comparison to what she wore on the actual show:

OH GIRL. Do you want to lead us in a rousing chorus of “Put It Away”? Because we do know you can really sing.

The strap across the chest is what makes it look really trashy. Without that, it would still be too generous a V-neck for her figure, but wouldn’t look so downmarket.

Never triangle frame the breasts, especially if your cleavage is ample enough. Too bad cause it otherwise hugs her nicely.

that strap takes it from passable to Fredericks o Hollywood catalog

I never understand why you have to wear a cocktail dress on a talk show. The women always have such a hard time arranging themselves in the chair so that nothing shows/makes them look fat; it’s hard to watch. I mean why are you wearing 6″ platforms when you know the chair will be a foot from the ground and you’ll have to twist both your ankles while sitting??

What was wrong with the first outfit? This girl is so hit and miss. Dress is cute from the waste down. The upper half? Not so much.

…nothing? I said it was “young, fresh, and cute.”

I think SS mean “Why did she change to the dress?” (perhaps with a “for the love of God!?!??!” thrown in)

I can’t get over how much she looks like a drag queen in that dress. Which is totally fine…if you’re a MAN. The juxtaposition of the two outfits really shows how different a cute girl can look depending on her clothes.

What’s distracting to me is the tan line across her chest… could she not have used self tanner to even it out?

Do we sing “Put it Away” to the tune of the Red Hot Chili Peppers “Give It Away”? Because I’d be totally on board with that…

Put it away, put it away, put it away now! That’s stuck in my head! LOL.

As long as she’s not sing it.

      **snortlaugh!**

There was an actual spit take involved with that laugh. Thanks a lot.

I think we’d need to somehow intersperse it with the Weird Al Yankovic version of Give It Away, which was “Yabba Dabba Dabba Dabba Dabba Doo Now!”

Um, I know we’re generally supposed to stay away from comments like these, but she clearly loves the attention.

    Are those new?

They sure look new to me. :)

WHY are both pics in front of TRASH CANS???

I was thinking the same thing! I mean, it’s Letterman; couldn’t they get some potted plants or something by the entrance, especially as it’s common for guests to be photographed right there? It’s like taking a picture in the middle of an alley.

I was like, photo op in front of dumpsters??
        Nice.

Yeah, I was gonna say I don’t recall having seen those before … maybe I’m just not that perceptive? (This is a lie)

I think most of “those” is attached to a bra/dress and just mushing what’s real into the centre of attention.

      Or they’re new.

I find the background of both photos – a damp alleyway festooned with dumpsters – quite appropriate for her sense of fashion.

    Cleavage Window WHAT?

Why is she standing like “teehee, I just did something naughty” in those pictures?

I’m shocked that the white dress hadn’t already been worn by Serena on Gossip Girl. She lives for cleavage.

Why don’t celebs tan their feet?

Perhaps they’re worried about ruining the lining of the shoes (especially if they’re on loan)?

I really like that first outfit and she looks really cute in it.

The second outfit — oy. So, my daughter just learned who Mary Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony were so I guess women’s issues are on my mind, but I would love to do some research on the WHY of the way starlets dress today: Do they WANT to dress like hookers? Or is someone telling them to dress like this? Agents? Stylists? Who started this trend of the platforms and the porn star boob dresses? And, do these young women know that they have every right (and are not being b*tchy) if they say ‘thanks, but no thanks, I’ll wear what I want to wear’? Or does being a fame whore mean you’re ready and willing to dress like an actual whore? Anyone who’s part of this industry, please enlighten me!

In Lea Michele’s case, I’m pretty sure it’s all her.

The ones who want to dress modestly generally do. Look at her costar Diana Agron who has ladylike down to a science.

They are certainly given clothing, and every now and then I’m sure it winds up being more than they would do themselves, but the ones who are CONSISTENTLY trashy? Yeah, I have to think it’s all them.

Lea Michele seems desperate to be thought of as sexy.

Thats not the industry thats the age group. Go out on a saturday night in Sydney and every girl looks exacty like the 2nd photo there.

The problem with the first outfit is she couldn’t have worn it on camera without flashing Dave and the entire CBS audience.

The problem with the second outfit (aside from those hideous shoes) is that there’s supposed to be another neck piece to go with the dress. It wouldn’t obviate the cleavage, but it would make it look like the dress had artful cut-outs instead of just a boob bandage.

I hate the shoes in the first picture. I find those stupid ankle boot things to be an abomination.

Am I the only one who finds it odd that people get photographed outside of Letterman? Does this happen with Ellen as well? Or Sesame Street?

    • Anita
      0

Letterman films in the old Ed Sullivan theatre in NYC. It’s on a public street, so I guess the paps hang out there — something they probably can’t do at Ellen, which films on a studio lot. That’s also the reason for the trash cans — the celebrity entrance is most likely on the side street, and those dumpsters probably belong to the corner deli and the other restaurants on the block.

Why we never see pap photos of Miss Piggy, I couldn’t say ; )

      • Mahastee

Pap shots of Miss Piggy would be enough to make me buy trashy magazines again!

The paps also take pictures of celebrities outside of the Jimmy Kimmel show for the same reason they do outside of Letterman’s… Public Street!

I too find it strange. Is there not a better background than the garbage bins?

  22. Wendy

Oh, and I don’t understand why young women (famous or not) feel the need to dress like tramps either.

Second dress: waayyy TMI. But I find LM is always doing a “look@me” with her red carpet looks. The first pic excepted, however. That’s young, fresh & cute indeed.

  24. Rebecca

Yowza, where did that chest come from?! She’s usually into those deep-plunging v-necks with her boobs spread really far apart so I always thought she was kind of flat-chested.

The first outfit is cute though! Though she bugs me and I think I’m officially done with Glee now and I feel very free.

  25. Kayla

Why does everyone seem to want to look like a long-lost Kardashian relative? Seriously, is the only form of ‘beauty’ these days the tight, slutty, over-tanned, long, wavy haired kind?

    • Heidi

The first thing I thought when I saw the second outfit was that she looked like Kim K!
Such a shame because the first outfit is super cute

  26. Helen

I don’t like the first outfit, myself, but I agree the dress is far worse.

I may need the shiny jacket, but am very un-sold on her in general. I watched part of an episode of Glee once, to try and give it a go, and her singing made me want to stab myself in my eye. Her red carpet shenanigans usually do the same, but her Met Ball dress was, surprisingly, one of my favourites of the night.

  28. Jean Marie

So, am I the only one who said “Power Girl outfit” when she saw the second one??

    • Edith

Power Girl! I was trying to remember the character’s name; I don’t read many comics, but that outfit is LEGENDARY regardless, and YES, that is exactly what this looks like – it’s every bit as ridiculous here, too.

  29. Sajorina

I think that her 1st outfit was absolutely perfect for her appearance on the show, so why change? Sooooooo unnecessary! By the way, I love those black booties… WANT!

For somo reason the 2nd pic made me think about Heidi Montag… totally random, i know!!!

The first outfit is so adorable– I love it! She looks cute but is still showing some leg. The second… oh Lea. Seriously, put it away. It’s trashy and you can do better.

That dress is trying WAY too hard. And the shoes aren’t trying at all. It is like a bad first date. End it quickly.
