Cute Coat Watch: Kate Middleton

well-played

Somehow I missed this when it happened on Tuesday — I have a terrible cold (all hail the inaugural cold of autumn, right?) — and I just spaced out. I’ll fire me later. For now: cute coats and British Footballers.

I prefer this one to the one from yesterday. I didn’t care for the belt yesterday–it just looked…thrown on. This one, while it is also clearly an add-on, seems more in keeping with the style of the coat than the one yesterday did. It looks more natural with it.

I wish I had never ending access to a parade of beautiful coats. I’m especially envious of the belt here.

Also, I’m pretty sure that the backs of one of those heads is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, which has nothing to do with fashion but he’s so delightful he just improves any photo (even if it is just the back of his head).

I love it. They’re thinking “Oh my she’s so pretty!” And shes thinking “OMG these guys are cute!”

So yesterday after reading your post about her coat I recalled the phrase: “Coats are for PLOT!” I miss Ringer.

It got ID’d as a Reiss “Angel” coat. Amazing how even with heavy felt, she still has such a tiny figure.

I love her (and love this look!), but how can she always be smiling so genuinely, in every photo, all the time?? Doesn’t her face hurt? Doesn’t she ever get distracted and stare off into space, or frown at something, or scratch her nose, or get bored, or have a stomach ache? Is she just really good at holding the “genuine smile,” or is she legitimately blissfully happy all the time?

Love the coat, love the boots, love the footballers. :)

I have been wondering the same things. Is it possible she is not actually human?

Also, her coats make me wish I lived in a place where coats were necessary.

Right?? Either way, she’s the best thing to happen to that family in decades.

Where does she get her belts?! awesome.

The coat and belt are divine.
Love how she makes that strapping footballer look so giddy.

I am so so tired of Kate MIddleton posts! Not only are they all practically identical but she’s so…I’m just over it. Could there be no other celebrity fashion available to critique?? Is that even possible?

It’s the FugGirls’ party and they’ll Kate if they want to.

I find the Kate posts to be a great palate cleanser after all the posts that are full of crazy. I love them.

I agree. And I don’t think there are that many of them. There are lots of other reviews of the crazies in between the Kates.

I will never, ever get tired of the Kate posts. And I’m not sorry.

…we cover lots of other celebs! As evidenced by the rest of the site.

I love the Kate posts. And I love the Kate love. I have to ignore Kate posts on most of my other fav blogs (other than TLo) because of the Kate hate (jealousy?).

I’m with you all he way on this one – I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tired of her and poor dear, she does appear to be rather dreary. YAWN! We get it here in the UK from dawn to dusk on every high street magazine and it’s a terrible bore. Especially as some of us think she dresses more like Nancy Reagan than a 30 year old! Just saying ….

Oh Beth, I don’t think you are going to get much support for your critique. Personally I LOVE the Kate Middleton posts.

I also love how the footballers look totally smitten with her.

I LOVE Kate and am so glad you feature her so often. Love, love, love her clothes – they look like something an actual regular person could wear and so she’s very inspirational.

If I don’t like a post, instead of complaining, I just skip right over it;it’s not that hard to do.

Personally, I look forward to the Kate posts. She epitomizes class and elegance, and serves as a welcome palate-cleanser — a sartorial sorbet, if you will — from the lunacy served up by so many other celebs. Keep the Kate posts coming, Fug Girls!

Right?! I love the look on that guy’s place. It’s like “Wow, she is even prettier in person! I want to ask her out, but I know I can’t (but I’ll still secretly think it, anyway).”

I think he’s considering how long he’ll be locked in The Tower if he actually dares to make a move on Kate. And if it will be worth it. Life is full of trade offs.

At this rate you guys need to start an own blog just for Middleton’s lovely coats! :)

There’s one called What Kate Wore, which goes into meticulous detail about her various items of dress. It’s not funny, but it’s super informative.

I adore the Kate. It’s like mouthwash from the fug-spectaculars. She always dresses well..not “OMIGOD THAT IS THAT FEATHER DRESS ON PENELOPE CRUZ” well, but “lovely” and “appropriate” and “tailored” and “tasteful.”

Honestly, it’s nice to have those words back in the fashion lexicon.

I love the Kate Middleton posts too. I must admit that there are a lot of them, but there haven’t been too many that I did not enjoy seeing.

I unabashedly (and rather irrationally) love her, her impeccable style, her obvious adoration for her husband, and her handsome gingery scamp of a brother-in-law. Keep the Kate posts coming! (Especially when they involve cute coats AND cute fellows–thanks Fug Girls.)

Totally read that last bit as “Tell us about your boobs, Kate!” Which, of course, would be horrible if it actually happened, but definitely gave me a giggle as a caption. HEE!

Those guys look so thrilled to meet her that I started to wonder: How would one address Kate Middleton? Duchess? Mrs. Windsor? Now I need to know, in case it ever comes up!

Your Grace, then Ma’am. (Knowing protocol is crazy)

Or, Your Highness (more likely) But either way I’m sadly likely to never actually NEED to know this thing.

Love the Kate posts, love Sandra’s response. :)

(But also respect Beth’s right to be sick of Kate!)

Btw, I was SO not gonna go there, but you primed me for it with slide 2 and the topless photo thing, so when I got to slide 3, I originally read it as, “Tell me more about your boobs!” o_O

I wish I had Kate’s phone number, so I could call her up and ask how one goes about in a coat with a big buckled-on belt over it. I would get somewhere, want to take my coat off, start taking it off, realize I was belted into it, have to shimmy back into the parts of the coat I started to take off, unbuckle the belt and look weird in the process because there is no ladylike and graceful way to unbuckle a belt (especially in public), take the belt off, take the coat off, wonder how to keep the belt with the coat so I don’t lose it, decide to thread the belt through the sleeve of the coat, and only THEN would I be ready to proceed. And I get the sense that Kate doesn’t go through life like that. So I would like to call her up and get her secrets.

She attends events in her buckle-over-coat ensemble and SWEATS. OK, that might be exaggeration, but she really doesn’t take off her coats once inside from what I can tell. I’ve seen a few events where she looks rather flushed, so I think she’s re-thought the decision to wear a belt on the outside a few times.

And yeah, your description of wearing a belt is totally something I would do, too. I agree that even if she did undo the buckle, it would look awkward, at best. And then where would you put the belt?!?

Love Kate, love her hair, love most of her clothes, but…I really do not like the black suede boots. They just seem dated and/or too old.

I love Duchess Kate, and related royal postings (Harry!). I love Hot British Men Who Are Also Athletic. How can I not love when the two are combined? (even better would be Hot Royal Men being Athletic while playing Polo, but is polo a summer thing? I have no idea, having never actually been around people who play polo, unless watching the polo scene in Pretty Woman counts)

Also just realized something which I haven’t bothered to notice in a long time. These pictures aren’t big enough for me to tell. Is Duchess Kate’s eyeliner not as strong or am I just immune to it now? She always looks gorgeous, but when they first married it was something I noticed consistently.

*snore* All this Kate idolation makes me kind of tired, especially since every outfit she wears looks like the other.
