Jessica has already mentioned this, but I have to second it: Brooklyn is a love letter to Saoirse Ronan’s eyes and skin, both of which will knock you flat. I found the movie’s third act underwhelming or at least unconvincing, but SHE always sold it all as best she could, and I can’t wait to see what she DOES win an Oscar for someday. (Brie Larson will be tough to beat, although whether she belongs in Supporting — honest question; I could see an argument either way — is a debate for another day, and besides, I’m sure people would punt and give it to Blanchett in that instance. Blanchett is the new Streep.)
