CFDA Fugs and Fabs: Cleaning Out My Lightbox

It’s that time again: Hollywood marches on and my brain can’t keep pace, so, I run out of time to make lengthy, thoughtful, or possibly even coherent observations about each of these. That doesn’t mean I won’t try here, but really, is it any wonder that Busy here left me speechless? She’s wearing a jumpsuit made of Cher. There aren’t words for that.

Love the suit inspired by a box of Kleenx Classic Foil.

So who IS the Federline-Alike with Jennifer Tilly, and where on God’s green earth did he find that suit??

“Master’s degree in lobeology” i’m still giggling

and i like the pink lipstick on moore (her skin is so great, but her pigtail looks a little to tight, her face seems different)

agreed the the lipstick. She somehow pulls it off because of (or thanks to I guess) her ridiculously perfect complexion!! It looks good on her. Probably because she’s always classy and doesn’t look like a make-up doll gone crazy…

I did like TEN double-takes at the K-Fed look-alike!! Seriously, he ALMOST made me forget to look at his crazy suit!! (almost)

I absolutely love how statuesque Mandy Moore looks in that thing… but I’m definitely not sold on the lipstick either. It’s got an air of jaundice to it, somehow, despite not even being yellow. Colour me confused.
I actually started at Sophia Bush for like 15 seconds. She looks so tall and stately and vavaVOOM. Love it.

Strange scarf aside, I love seeing Busy Phillips in something other than hippie-wear. She looks good.

i like julianne’s dress! maybe in a brighter hue would be better, but i think it’s simple and classy and she looks gorgeous. also – ever since that episode of AI with her giggling over Phillip, i really like her.

If I were Cynthia Rowley’s size/proportions, I would likely also wear things of such a Rowley-esque cracked out nature. Despite my GFY-induced hatred of all things jumpsuitery.

It’s definitely nothing groundbreaking, but I really like Houghy’s dress. Yes, I call her Houghy.

Compared to the other choices made at this event, I think MM merits more than “aggressively fine”. How about assertively good? Or adjectively positive?

    Sophia Bush looks GREAT.

Also, in regard to your question in the Mandy Moore slide, I’m a huge fan of hot pink lipstick. Like red lipstick though, you have to find the right kind of hot pink for your skin tone. It doesn’t work on everyone.

Also, hot pink is fun and flirty and good for summer. I was really not into all that burgundy/brown lipstick that people were wearing at the Met Ball. AT ALL.

Genetic Peg legs. Every woman in my family has a wacky calf-thigh ratio regardless of our age/weight/fitness levels. See also; Christina Aguilera.

Peg leg aside, I’d kill for my hair to look as good as Donna Karan’s.

Agreed. And she usually looks pretty good too. Classy broad. I wish she were a touch less tan?

Most of these people rate a big ole WHO?!? in my life, though I generally do like Donna Karan’s designs. Jennifer Tilly should not have done whatever it is she did to her face.

If “cleaning out my lightbox” isn’t a euphemism, it ought to be.

    1. Bellydancers are ALWAYS a good idea.
    2. No bellydancer would EVER wear black shoes with their autumnal office/sundress/bedlah.

Also, Jennifer Tilly, Busy Phillips and Gretchen Mol all at one event? I so want to sit at that table.

I think Gretchen could inspire a Fug Friday competition, and is securing her place in Fug Madness ’13.

Can we make mammary disrespect a felony? Jennifer Tilly, Christina Hendricks, and Scarlett Johannsen would all be serving stretches of 7-10 years.

I made mental notes on Julianne’s dress, because I KNEW there would be a quiz.

“… wearing a jumpsuit made of Cher.”? “… her ears apparently just graduated with a Master’s degree in lobeology.”? Oh, Heather you slay me!!! Ahahahahahahaha……… I actually love Sophia Bush & Mandy Moore’s outfits! And, I dig Cynthia Rowley’s shoes! By the way, I love Jennifer Tilly!

Sophia Bush looks amazing, well done.

The rest, mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh although Gretchen got a quiet “yikes” when I saw that slide LOL

I thought Julianne Hough looked fantastic. I would kill for that dress. Clean lines are so refreshing in this age of one-shoulder-lace-see-through-hanky-ribbon-flounce-mullet-feathers nonsense. She styled it perfectly, it’s an unusual colour, and it fits. She looks flat-out fantastic.

Like finding the right bra, you just have to commit to an afternoon of trying literally dozens of hot pinks until you find the one that is JUST RIGHT. Don’t stop until you find the RIGHT ONE. Or it’s awful.

You’re absolutely right. And that is why I never wear bright red lipstick, either.

A few random thoughts (in keeping with the random collection of semi-celebs in this slideshow):
    1. I don’t know who Pharrell is, but that outfit is a most excellent scroll down fug.
    2. Also don’t know who Pamela Love is, but based on her pained expression, she is being choked to death by her own necklace.
    3. If you squint your eyes, Jessica Pare’s earrings look like pigtails (which would be better).
    4. Gretchen Mol looks like she just woke up from a nap 30 seconds ago.

Jumpsuits – for when you can’t be bothered to dress up.
