Fugger: Wills and Kate

Well Replayed: Kate Middleton

Rumor did have it that Kate was going to be wearing more jewels, and bingo. That necklace is huge. Want the deets on it? It’s Elizabeth’s, it’s called the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace, it came with a matching tiara, and — this is all per The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor and What Kate Wore, which are great resources for Kate-watchers and lovers of things royal — it was a wedding gift, made by Cartier, from the Nizam of Hyderabad (Hyderabad has quite an interesting history, a wormhole of which I just fell into, and its Nizam had very glittery taste).  I just like the idea of walking into your grandmother-in-law’s necklace closet and hearing her say, “how about this old thing from the Nizam of Hyderabad? You can have this, Kate, if you wear slightly longer skirts now and then.” And Kate is like, “….fine, we can make that work.”

Fugs and Fabs and Fines: A Royal Omnibus

Kate and George were in Mustique for the week for her mother’s birthday (he’s gotten so big! And that is the body language of a woman who has lugged that baby around a lot; you can tell someone’s comfortable with the child in question when she’s toting him like a bag of flour. I have a picture of myself holding one of Heather’s kids at just a little bit older in the exact same fashion except he happens to be reaching for a bottle of beer. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE SCANDAL? [I didn't give it to him]), but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t check in on a variety of royal or quasi-royal personages. Also includes cute puppies and a look at one of Camilla’s dining rooms.

Well Played, Probably Literally: Wills and Harry On The Football Pitch

Just a little holiday grunting, kicking, and sweating. Is this gratuitous? Let’s face it: Yes. But does that mean you don’t want to see the princes getting down and dirty with the Sandringham estate workers and local villagers? No.

Happy Holiday, From the Royals

I feel like they haven’t looked this jolly as a group in a while. People are wearing hats! Kate and Wills are holding hands! Harry is holding his beard!

PS: There was behind-the-scenes footage of Prince George’s christening in the Queen’s Christmas Speech, if you want to take a peek.

Well Replayed Kate Middleton

This is the third time Kate’s sported this black lace Temperley (this is the first, and the second, we don’t have snaps for some reason I can’t unravel, but you can see it at What Kate Wore). But it’s definitely the first time she’s accessorized it with 3-D glasses. Additionally: a smart suit is trotted out to sign Nelson Mandela’s condolence book, AND a look from the end of last week. Call it a Kate Omnibus. A Katenibus.

Well Replayed, Kate Middleton

In which she replays a Roland Mouret from May of 2012, which we all liked at the time — especially since she wore it with open-toed shoes for the first time, like, ever. If that was the first outing of the Royal Toes, this is the first instance of The Royal Ponytail At A Fancy Event. With bonus diamonds. A LOT of them…and they’re allegedly faux, from freaking Zara.
