Fug File: Well Played

Well Saturdayed: Emma Stone

In short, she is extremely cute in this:

In only slightly longer: it may be actually physically impossible for me to resist the combo of striped top + blazer + jeans + sunglasses + red lip. I cannot do it. And I actually do not want to.

Well Played: Kate, Wills, and George’s Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand, Day Six

There was A LOT on the docket today: Kate visited a children’s hospice, William went to an aerospace something or other (technically, it was the aircraft manufacturer Pacific Aerospace), they both went to visit Cambridge (appropriate; and per Twitter, there are 18,000 residents of Cambridge, NZ and a crowd of 15,000. As Cambridge Watch put it on Twitter, “those other 3000 people are no fun”) where roses were laid at memorials, and then they went and hung out with some Olympians and opened the Avantidrome. I wonder if everyone reminisced about the London Olympics and how fun they were and how everyone at those Olympics had such amazing abs….

Where were we? Ah, yes! Big day for Wills and Kate but no wardrobe change — and no George, who I don’t think we’re going to see until they get to Australia, maybe, so at least a few more days…I think. (Tomorrow is even busier and involves a Maori welcome and wine-tasting and rugby and white-water rafting, which is actually also all of what I have on my sked tomorrow as well.) At any rate, let’s eyeball them. I hope it goes without saying that I like her green Erdem coat VERY MUCH. She told someone that William thought it was “a bit bright,” but I am pleased that she clearly was like, “yes,  and you own 45 identical blue suits,” and wore it anyway. (I can’t see what she’s got on underneath — there was serious discussion on Twitter, and we finally decided it was probably old tee shirts of W’s — but I guess we were wrong, as I read on Kate Middleton Style that it’s this fabulous dress by Susannah which now I also covet. So. Yeah. This tour is really, really bad for my budget.)

You should know that as always I picked the photos where (a) you can best see her outfit, and  (b) they’re cute with each other. Let’s not pretend we don’t care about that.

Well Played, Jennifer Garner in Dolce & Gabanna

This movie looks like it’s Draft Day Sponsored By Bud Light, just as the step-and-repeat has promised us but she, at least, has been looking awesome whilst promoting it:

This is fab on her, I think: sexy but still grown-up and elegant. It’s worth noting that I think this length totally works on her, and with this specific dress, given that we’ve been discussing hemlines so much this week with regards to Kate Middleton. I think one of the reasons the length is so successful here is because the dress is otherwise pretty body conscious. (Obviously, the day Kate wears D&G is the day I will eat a Q-Tip with mustard.) Is Garner still working with Rachel Zoe (who has done very right by her in the past, as well)? Regardless: a round of applause all around.

Well Played: Kate, Wills, and George’s Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand, Day Five

In which Kate’s yacht beats William’s yacht two races in a row. (He beat her in the boat race during the Canadian trip, so now they’re even.) They both look very CLASSICALLY them — if you were going as Kate for Halloween (and you should and then send us pictures), you could totally wear skinny jeans, a blue and white striped top, and a blazer, and you’d be bang on. He is in blue as ever, and the same belt (I think) he wore when they introduced us to George. See, William, I pay attention to you, too.

This post, in other words, is basically sunglasses and waving and sailing and thumbs up.

Well Played: Emma Stone in Versace

This is one of the most gently classy things I think Donatella’s House of WTF has ever produced.

Well Played: Kate, Wills, and George’s Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand, Day Four

And this was the post where I accidentally fell sleep before the late night round of photos came in, and woke up with a start around 1 a.m. with all the lights on in my bedroom and no idea what was even happening with my life/choices. The all-hours Royals updates of the last couple of nights have not been a trial whatsoever because I am (a) a total night owl and (b) often up late working on the book and whatnot anyway, but tonight I just conked out. ANYWAY. WE’RE AWAKE NOW. WE’RE ALL AWAKE NOW.  This is a state reception where William is unveiling a new portrait of the Queen (there’s actually video of the event here; he gives a speech and all whatnot, rather than just going, “Yo, here’s a new painting of my grandma, see y’all later”), and I appreciate that Kate brought out the custom Jenny Packham for us (a better call than this bottomless Packham frock, I guess).

I believe that next up is A Yacht Race, which is actually how Heather and I settle all our arguments here at GFY HQ, so I’m looking extra forward to it.
