Fug or Fab: Shailene Woodley in Elie Saab Haute Couture

Thank God we got a press release for this one, because I never would have been able to ID a dress that first came down the runway in 2010. I literally don’t even know what I ate for lunch yesterday. This — the age of the dress, not my lunch — opens up so many questions about how this particular frock ended up on this girl, not least because Shailene was like 17 at the time it showed, and probably hasn’t been day-dreaming about this specific outfit since then. We’re so used to seeing celebs wearing the freshest line from any given designer — or something properly vintage, of course — that I literally wonder how this even happened; the dress has also been altered from the runway version, and I can’t think why, because it’s better, as far as I am concerned, as originally seen (I stuck a snap of the original runway look in this slideshow so we may compare and contrast). I TOLD you I had questions. Let’s hash it out in the comments.

Fug or Fab: Tina Majorino

I really like her in this and I have no idea why:

She looks like a magician’s assistant after he’s already sawed her in half.

Fug or Fab: Kristen Bell at the Los Angeles Veronica Mars Premiere in J Mendel

I believe this is the final Veronica Mars premiere, as it opens on Friday — and apparently, will also be available on VOD for those of us, like myself, who perfer to watch VM in jammies with a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs — and K. Bell is going out with a feminine bang. Wait, that sounds kind of dirty. Sorry. MOVING ON.

Fug or Fab: Jessie J

I must begin this post with a caveat and that caveat is that I may very well be totally crazy right now. I’ve been putting in a lot of hours lately and it’s possible that I’ve got some version of Stockholm Syndrome where I just start liking crazy stuff because my subconscious wants someone to come over and drag me away from the computer. (By “someone” you understand, I hope, that I mean “Jon Hamm,” and by “away from the computer,” I mean, “to Hawaii,” right? Just so we’re clear.) ANYWAY, that extremely long caveat aside, is this kind of cute or what?

I mean, it’s CRAZY. She looks like she’s wearing the bearskin rug that generally lives in front of her fireplace, but I feel like it’s crazy in a cute way. It’s crazy in the way of your crazy friend who pulls off stuff that you’d never try, but which you still like to admire (and, in this case, pet) at brunch.

Do you feel me?

Fug or Fab the Cover: Lena Dunham on Glamour

Last month, she was on Vogue, this month she’s on Glamour. Not too shabby, Lena Dunham:

I’m on record as liking the Vogue cover a lot, but I’m not quite as enamored of this one. It’s not her fault; I actually think her FACE looks great, if a wee bit dead-eyed. But I’m rarely a fan of the “oh god, you guys, I have such a headache” posing and OMG Glamour, we’re ALL over talking about her body so NO NEED TO PUT THAT ON THE COVER right OVER said body. Additionally, somewhere in a hidden room of a gelato warehouse, Tyra Banks just woke up in a cold sweat. She’s felt the presence of neckless cover shot in the universe and her chi is rattled.

How do you like it?

Fug or Fab: Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring at the New York Screening of Veronica Mars

It’s nice of them to give the Mars fans lots of material to squee over. Me, I wish Alex O’Loughlin would reunite with Jason Dohring for a movie version of Moonlight, where he was a vampire/PI who could smell the past — NO, LITERALLY — and Dohring was his depressed, bad-boy vampire mentor/fiend who moped a lot whilst wearing vests. That’s my Kickstarter, you guys.

SO ANYWAY, about Kristen's dress!
